  1. Yup, I know quite a few guys who'd choose the Carter's bug over the orange bomber. In smaller sizes, they're great for trout too. Fish em' dry on a dead drift, in the film with some action or just down an across, either way, you're likely to find success. When tying a CB, it's important to remember that you're trying to imitate a shrimp - that'll help with getting the shape of the fly. Yellow heads for females, orange for males, although I think you'd be safe to use either in most situations.
  2. First post. I creeped this site a bit in the past but when I saw this poll I finally decided to register. Here in Nova Scotia, I'm pretty sure that if you asked any serious fly angler this question, they'd choose the muddler hands down. Personally, I've caught more trout on a good ol' gold turkey wing/squirrel tail muddler than on any other fly. For speckles (our native trout species) there is simply no better fly. Also, I've caught my record trout (27 inch brown) on a black conehead zonker muddler. If I had to choose only one fly to carry, it'd be a regular old muddler minnow, and there's not even a close second to that.
