Soft Jerkbait Weights

Recommended Posts

Lunker City makes 'em for the

Slug-Go, I think there are some

being sold under the Basspro

name too. They look like a little

ribbed headless nail and are

intended to imbed in soft plastics.

Great for adding weight to the length

of a hook shank when you don't

want barbell eyes or a beadhead.

No,

but it's soft lead and it's

ribbed so they're really easy

to trim for length smile.gif

when I read this I thought great a lead replacement, as lead is not allowed here. I know there are subsituites for lead. The other day I cut My S.A. streamer express line back. I tied a short peice of the line to the under side of the hook shank for a zonker style fly that I covered with a braid. It worked well, made the body fater, kept it deep and was lighter than lead.

Cool,

I'm tryin' to get away

from lead, but It's tough.

Been tyin' with nickel plated

brass barbells, but they don't

really get a big ol' wad of

bucktail down like I'd like

and tungsten's just too

expensive dunno.gif

You know that reminds me before those insertable wieghts existed we used to use finishing nails. So there is another lead replacement who knows it may be cheaper. I know that I'm gonna give it a shot.

Thanks for jarring something loose in my brain and giving me an idea.
