EZ streamer - EZ body made it easy

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I've posted a streamer in the February's flies from the vice and here is a SBS of how I did it. It's doable in a few minutes only

Tied some krystal flash

Some Senyo's fusion dub for the hot spot (other materials would work, too)

Attached a piece of EZ body, size large

For the top, a clamp of darker synthetic fibers

On the belly, white fibers

post-53943-0-13018900-1424458879_thumb.jpg

Pinch the EZ body backward

It will pull the fibers, too, so here is the initial shape

post-53943-0-00919600-1424458887_thumb.jpg

Using the scissor, cut the fibers to get the final shape

Draw some stripes, attach epoxy eyes

Ready to swim smile.png

Have fun!

Pike.ro ... nice tie. You beat me to a design I was thinking of, for crayfish. I hope you don't mind if I modified one of your photos.

Tie in lead barbells or lead wire near the head, then Extend the EZ-body back to the hook bend (white mark).

Tie in the "tail" to each side, like claws (black circle).

I think it would make for a very light (for casting) but rather realistic crayfish pattern.

Same here...I like this fly very much...I ran across a deal on some mylar tubing on EBay so I am most definitely gong to have to give this a try.

Nice looking pattern. I've found a great local source for this mylar tubing. I buy it at our local A.C. Moore craft store. In their flower arranging section they have this tubing in 15 yard (!) packages for just under $5, and it comes in an assortment of colors, including pearl. I also have it in orange, which looks like a rich gold color. I use that to tie a saltwater shrimp pattern. There is just this one size of tubing, but there's lots of it!

I should go and check the craft store, too :) Thanks for the tip!

This stuff is great. If you want a smaller size just stretch a piece over some steam and it will keep its shape.

The pattern above is how Jack Gartside use to tie his "fish head" saltwater fly 20 years ago.

Fin-ite 34,

OK, I hit the craft store today. Attached is a pic of the label for this tubing. The store is A.C. Moore. I've visited their website, but don't see an option to just order materials that are not related to a specific project. Perhaps you will have better luck.
