Guest Report post Posted May 15, 2004 Caddis' are hatching in large numbers all over the central and southern streams. Low water levels are rpoviding TREMENDOUS hatches on local trout streams and larger rivers. Pale Morning and Pale Evening hatches are being observed on the slower flows in eastern KY and TN and on the still water lakes all over VA, KY, and TN. Scuds are very active as are the Yellow Stones and Damsel nymphs. Skimmers and damsels are hatching out and smallmouth are starting to take adult patterns like Nick's N2 Damsel. The cicadas are starting to hatch out here and a good rain will really bring the hatch to a proper start. Golden Mayflies are being spotted in Russell KY , KY and being eaten in earnest by trout on Goose Creek. Crayfish are very active in the shallows at night and starting to mate...the first broods should appear in southern waters anyday now. Wasps and other wingd terrestrials are being taken by the gills and redeyes on creeks and ponds all over the south and midwest.....damn!!!!! I LOVE THIS TIME OF YEAR!!!!!
