When I get the body dubbed, nice and neat, and realize I failed to tie in the rib.

Bryon,

Here ya about the band-aids. Took me years to realize it was a good idea to keep a first aid kit on the wood shop. Go figure.

Only took twenty years for that to dawn on me. :- /

OOOOOOOkaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy !!!

That REALLY bugs me.  At 59 ... I've had WAAAAYYYY too many things "dawn on me" way after I wish they had !!!

Thanks for reminding me of that fact, Bryon.  It bugs me that I had to be reminded, too !!!

What really bugs me is when I have spent numerous hours of tying enjoyment learning to properly tie a new pattern, only to lose it to a tree branch on my first cast because I was too excited to fish it and failed to watch my back cast.

+1 to that.
Or deciding to change flies, taking care to tie to 7x tippet with a chill affecting finger dexterity, sliding into a perfect angle to cast at potential holding spot along the bank, then delivering a perfect roll cast into the overhanging branch...with spin casters watching. Oooh that bugs me

If I ever forget to tie something in, I just find an alternate way to add it. It is amazing what you can come up with when you have to. Sometimes (many times) it does not look all that great, but for some reason, the fish never notice. To quote the PBS artist, the late Bob Ross, "We don't make mistakes, we have happy accidents."

Wow, a two-fer...I'm on FIRE! :-D  Right there with ya, Mike. Nothing makes the experience of learning a new thing bittersweet like realizing you should have learned it years ago. I guess that's--marginally-- better than never figuring it out at all. smile.png

But then you never realize what you're missing or how much easier it could've been for x or xx (for some here maybe xxx) years.

I get pretty ticked off at items marketed to fly tyers with ridiculous price markups. There are certain things I refuse to use because I know the mataerial in the package is worth less than the packaging itself and the asking price is superelevated just because it is for fly tyers.

Trying to stack deer hair (like Powershooter and I did today) and having the hair spin on the hook anyway.

I do like that Fugly packer he's got ... but I still can't get the deer hair to stay where I want it.

Then a bit later it  dawns on me that I knew this twenty years ago.
