This is not one of those flies where I wonder why you don't see it more often. hook Dai Riki 135 #12 thread - MFC 6/0 purple (with an assist From UTC 140 black) core - 7lb mono tail - elk hair dyed dark brown (tried it as a sub for moose body; not crazy about the results) abdomen/head - 1 mm foam purple wing - deer hair dyed dark brown thorax - dubbing purple hackle - grizzly put a loop on the end of the mono mash barb, start thread at mid-point; brush on a little super glue and tie in mono clean, stack, measure (2x shank) a clump of elk; trim butts/tie in, hook loop onto mono spiral wrap elk up the core, and back down tie in foam strip; leave tag end long for head brush underbody with Super Glue, wrap foam up; a little more glue and back down, tie off/trim wrap to eye, fold tag end of foam to create head, tie off/ trim; trim mono clean, stack, measure (tips to end of body) a clump of deer hair, trim butts, tie in (thread popped at this point, didn't have enough left on the spool to continue, so subbed black until fly shop opened); set wing upright with a few wraps behind divide and post wings (return of the purple thread) tie in hackles (shiny side out) dub thread/dub thorax; finish at base of wings wrap hackle down post, tie off with wraps at base; trim repeat on other side, half hitch x 2 at the eye, SHHAN Regards, Scott Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
