A fly from the 50's, attributed to Seattle's Enos Bradner, creator of the Brad's Brat. Weighted underbody optional.



hook - Dai Riki 280 #10

thread - Danville 6/0 black

tail - goose biots natural

abdomen - moose mane one light/one dark

thorax - peacock herl

hackle - partridge



mash barb, start thread, wrap to point above barb

even tips on a pair of biots (convex opposed); measure (gap width past bend), tie in/trim butts, smooth with thread

tie in moose mane, wrap abdomen to 2/3 mark; tie off/trim, brush with Sally

move thread to eye and tie in partridge by tip

twist peacock around thread, wrap to point 1 eye width back from eye; tie off/trim

Typo ... I do not have any moose mane. I've seen moose, in Wyoming and Alaska, but I wasn't close enough to pet them.

So, I've never seen mane hair up close.
