SBPatt 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2017 What does SHHAN mean? Sally Hansen's Hard As Nails How does a tyer get the thread inside the clip and on both sides of the hair? Is the thread laid in before the hair - then flip the tool over and lay the thread over the other side of the hair and then the clip is closed to trap all?? It is a Petitjean clip. Once the hair is in the clip and the butts are trimmed, it's inserted in the thread loop, with the thread on the outside of the clip; put some tension on the thread and allow it to slide off the ends of the clip, capturing the hair butts between the two strands (waxing the thread makes it easier to hold on to the butts). Release the clip and the hair should remain between the strands of the loop, spin it and you have a deer hair hackle. Regards, Scott
