thanks man the following materials are used: -polar fibre (pink and orange) -brush (similar to encrico puglisi brush) -100lb mono (eyes) -80lb flouro (keel) -60lb flouro (weedguard) -sili legs -2.5mm tungsten beads (orange) steps -tie the 80lb flouro keel to the hook. Check to see how far down the shank you must tie it to give it a good arc. -Tie the pink polar fibre -tie the sili legs -cut off a section of brush from the wire and tie it TIGHT around the sili legs and polar fibre (this stops the legs from ever fouling the hook bend) -burn the 100lb mono to make eyes. I then take some pliers and flatten the part that gets tied to the shank (to make it less bulky and stop movement) -tie further up the shank and wrap a piece of orange polar fibre so the ends extent just past the shank for color. -next I tie the dumbells -then I tie the the brush and (while pulling all fibres away from the wire) wrap it 5 to 6 times and then tie it off right at the dumbells (it will need to be brushed, trimmed once the fly is done) -then put the 3 or 4 beads onto the keel and wrap it around and tie it off. -finally, bend the 60lb flouro over and tie it as a weedguard. You will LOVE fishing this fly. it produces and never snags or wraps and is hardy as hell/

hey I fish the surf here in South Africa for stingrays, steenbras (similar to a grunter) and white seabass (we call them cob) My fly has developed from crab flies to shrimp to avalon shrimp and finally to this.... Version 4.0. It basically looks like our sand prawn (similar to your ghost shrimp) but can also look crabby... or like a sea lice or crustacean. Also makes a nice clicking sound and stirs up a bit of sound and gets down to the bottom!

hey reaction- of course not!... I use polar fibre (similar to Enrico Pugisi silky fibers)... can also use egg yarn. Then for the legs I lay it flat on wax paper and mix it with silicon (like bathroom sealant). cut the legs out of the sheet that dries. The body I lay wet. I put the polar fibre down and then put silicon on my finger and rub it on. After that I use mono to rib it. the belly is dubbing

Thanks paul, So far Ive done exactly that (foam). legs can be bent and are thin wire inside. Will finish the body and legs tonight... progress so far:

the last three images are tied using silicon and polar fibre. They look pretty good but not when they're static..... Attached are pics of Terrome and Freds Craws as reference I know its a serious challenge to create something this realistic and fishable....

Hi guys, For some time now I have been targeting a local specie called Pomadasys Commersonni (Spotted Grunter). These guys make Bonefish look stupid and are extrememly fussy on what they take. Very few anglers locally have taken them on fly. My goal is to create a fishable fly that will look realistic when drifted static in the current. They look pretty similar to crawfish... I see Fred and Terrome have done some INSANE craws. Any help on techniques/materials for bodies will help me crack the code in catching these fish. Ive tried everywhere and i think this is the only place where I'll get the answers im looking for.
