  1. Very nice, I tie some hex similar to this one the more ragged looking the better. BG
  2. Everything is at risk at this time of year during the heavy fly tying time during the dregs of winter that is going on right now, right SH69 ? Right now its some heavy steelhead tube fly tying that is in process.
  3. Steeldrifter Sorry I got real busy the last few weeks with work and my sons HS football playoffs thought the cards were due Thanksgiving weekend for some reason or right after that and was going to do this today. Not been to this site in a few weeks either which would have helped remind me of the due date. Sorry again and god bless our soldiers. BG
  4. November can be very good at IBSP, like right now. LOL BG
  5. Kingfisher, Do you fish IBSP area ? Love that area, brother lives in Brick on the water has a 30 foot cruiser does lots of bay and ocean fishing off of there. BG
  6. I did not even bother going out yesterday to my bass pond or steelheading , the wind was way too strong for the fly rod. Today is better. BG
  7. Well I see SH 69 has adopted my glitter nail polish ideas The secrets out now for sure. LOL BG
  8. No ptoblem, just some think BG is all steelhead and nothing else, I need to dispel that myth plus get my single handed casting back after three years of hard spey rodding for steel. LOL The warmwater fly fishing is fun plus its warm out and I don't have to wear all of that cold weather steelheading clothing, LOL BG
  9. fyi Good article on bass fly fishing techniques by Dave Whitlock. Whitlock on Bass BG
  10. KIngfisher Excellent job on that tutorial and nice pattern. I have been tying a lot of new bait fish patterns the last few months which my fly shop owner has showed me. Have you tried the extra select craft fur from Hareline for winging material yet ? Its cheap and good. We are using it in place of bucktail. I have been detecting a lot of short strikes from the large mouths on the long trailing end of the body (see your picture), have you noticed that ? Experimenting with shorter bodys now. Thanks again for your work. BG
  11. NY Yankees World Championships = 26 Boston Red Sox 1 (none since 1918 when the Babe saw the $$$ and galmour we all know where) LOL Good luck in the series though you will need it against the Cardinals one heck of a ball club which beat the heck out of our Cubbies which was a good team also. BG
  12. Been fly fishing 45 years but only tying the last 24 years. Too busy the first 21 years with military, college, women, sports cars, work and business travel, did I mention women ?. In 1979 was took a corporate transfer to South Bend, Indiana started Michigan steelhead, trout, and salmon fly fishing in earnest. Started tieing in 1980. Bought a steelhead tying kit from Kaufmans and the first T. Coombs book Steelhead Fly Fishing. There were on good fly tying books, videos, and of course no internet. Not even many fly tying classes except at TU meetings. Had to self teach self from FF magazines in the 80s. Now tie mainly steelhead, salmon, and trout patterns. Lately been moving into bass, pike and musky flys. The fun never ends in this hobby or the horror of it all. LOL BG
  13. How about the "Dr. Rex" of michigan steelheading fame, an old pattern. Look it up its not a hair wing classic though. "Doc Sprately" is another one a western US pattern for trout and steelhead. Might think of others too. BG
