feathers5 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2019 What brand of fly hooks have offset points? I thought Daiichi used to make them. Anyone aware of any around?
DarrellP 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2019 If I want an offset hook, I use plain shank bait hooks.

tjm 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2019 egg hooks 6-16 https://mustad-fishing.com/product/egg-caddis-offset?color=Bronze Lots of kirbed and reversed hooks out there by multiple manufacturers that could be used, most are intended as bait hooks- some common wisdom once held that kirbed or reversed hooks cause the fly to spin the fly in current or on a retrieve, I've never tested that notion. rstaight 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2019 When it comes to an offset I take the pliers I use to crush the barbs. I put the point of the hook in the pliers making sure to go past the barb. Then take hold of shank and give it a tug. Really easy and you can put quit an offset in the hook. I do this before I start tying. Would really suck to do it after you have the fly done and break the hook. It does put the hook at a funky angle to tie but there is a simple remedy. Turn the vise so the hook is perpendicular to you.
