Roller Coaster Day

Recommended Posts

Well guys... today was a roller coaster. Ups and downs. Finally got off work and went fishing. Got into bass and catfish immediately. Landed a few of each. Landed a fat cat and then a bass took and when I set the hook, SNAP! My rod. My only working fly rod. The only one I've ever used since I started. It freaking broke. Right above the joint where the two pieces meet. Snapped on two. The bass was only like 12" long I don't understand why it broke. But I caught some good fish. Already working on a replacement, custom this time and not Wally World special.

You getting one from Steve? If you need a rod to get you through I have a cheap Shakespeare 8wt you can have if you want to pay shipping.

Yes I am working on getting one from the master himself. Something I've wanted to do for the longest time. Thank you so much for the offer but I will live until I can get a new one I don't think that's necessary. Thanks again though. The kindness here never ceases to amaze me.

Nothing lasts forever. Broken quite a few rods, of every kind, over the years.

In a similar situation, I've used a light spinning rod as a fly rod, before. You won't get quite the distance, but since it's designed for the line guides to hang down, it actually works okay.

Very nice fisherboy, I've been really happy with the rod Steve made me, let me know if you change your mind on that freebee, I habe another 8wt and a 7wt so it will just sit there and possibly never get used again.
