In honor of Turkey Day (and lack of peacock) I subbed turkey for peacock quill wing and tail; unsure of what hackle was used, but the India hen I had seemed to go well with the wing. hook - Dai Riki 075 #8 thread - Danville 6/0 black butt - brassie wire copper tail - turkey quill body - medium wire hot orange hackle - India hen wing - turkey quill mash barb, start thread, tie in wire, wrap to barb wrap wire forward to tie in, using resistance from hanging bobbin to keep the wraps (somewhat) tight; helicopter end, cover with thread tie in orange wire; wrap to point prep a pair of turkey quill segmenst (about 3/4 gap width); measure (shank length), fold, pinch, tie in, trim butts, smooth underbody with thread wraps wrap wire forward, helicopter end, cover with thread repeat sequence used for tail with slightly wider (gap width), quill segments, tips to tail tie in (folded) hackle by tip wrap hackle, tie off/trim, whip finish, SHHAN (multiple coats) Regards, Scott Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
