Saltybum 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2017 For a while I've thought it would great to see photos of just saltwater fish caught on fly. If you agree, please start posting your photos. First fish, best fish, old photos, what ever. Show us what you've got. Include your stories too, if you like. I know there's some whoppers out there. A couple shots of a nice redfish and the typical flats terrain I hunt.

islander727 0 Report post Posted April 23, 2017 Pinfish! Mullet I unhooked a red and tossed the fly aside. After releasing the fish, I go to cast and this guy's on the end of my line! Sheepies Then the usual fare...

Adam Saarinen 0 Report post Posted April 23, 2017 Thanks Dave! Couldn't help myself & knew there were some big fish pic's in the new Simms catologe, so i took a sharpie & drew a beard!😀 The 2 pics are the best 2 of only 4 fish i caught on my first trip to proper salt in Australia this year, Bream at the end of small flats & silver Travaly off the rocks! I hope bigger & better & more of em next time!
Peterjay 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2017 These are from my files - probably three or four years old. The picture of the fish with the crab fly in its mouth was a blurry mess. I more or less rescued it by running it through a Photoshop painting filter. Anyway, it was a memorable and beautiful morning. The water on the flats was smooth as glass, and I caught maybe five or six reds. That's about as many as there's time for with our big tidal swings; the flats drain completely at low tide, and the window of opportunity closes pretty quickly, especially with a weak tide. Mudskimmer 0 Report post Posted April 26, 2017 Here are a few pics from my last three DIY trips. My personal best redfish from the marshes of Louisiana on a frosty February morning. My first taste of fishing for pollack along the Maine coast. Although i didn't catch any over 14 inches i thought they were really cool looking and fun to catch (thanks to PJ for that recommendation). Too bad that fishery has been devastated over the years. Last, my first baby tarpon from the middle keys. I found out they were only slightly easier to hook and land than the adults. Maybe this summer I'll get a big one to the boat.... Peterjay 0 Report post Posted April 26, 2017 Great pix, John. Those pollock are extremely tasty - kinda like haddock or cod. A friend of mine who lives up in Jonesport used to catch some pretty nice ones right off the docks.
Li'lDave 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2017 A couple from today. Not huge but was great to get the bost wet and to catch some cool fish on some cool flies.
Saltybum 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2017 Awesome Dave! I can also see from the second photo you are really into pink...rod and all. Keep then coming. If I don't catch something pretty soon I'll have to dig into my old archives.
