Orvis Fly Tying Contest

Recommended Posts

Does the winner get royalties from the sale of their fly? If so that’s a contest worth entering, if not why enter so Orvis can profit of our designs?

nothing against orvis but contests in general are not for me

the royalties will not make you rich over night or even over time

Yep seems the second prize would make you some cash, 1st prize just for ego stoking? And whats an 'original' fly? You only have to trawl the web to see so many new flies that are simply rehashes of another pattern. Fair play to Orvis though for offering tiers something to tie for and good marketing.

Just read through the T&Cs... The fly is theirs, no royalties....:

b. Contestant has the full and exclusive right, power and authority to submit the Entry and to grant Sponsor the rights to the Entry, including but not limited to the worldwide copyright;

g. By accepting a prize, winners agree that Sponsor and its affiliates may use the winner’s name, address (city, state), photograph, statements, video, or other likeness, and/or prize information for advertising, publicity and promotional purposes. In addition, winner grants to Sponsors, and its affiliates any and all rights to said use without further notice and/or compensation, except where prohibited by law.

Since I don't have a smart phone of any type, I still can't "join" instagram. It's just for "portable" media.
