Poopdeck 0 Report post Posted December 17, 2017 So my plan today was to tie some copper johns and reline my 6wt. I sit down at the bench and fumble the biots. Then I cut the thread while clipping off the excess biots. I soldier on and get everything corrected, wrap the shank with a med red wire, counter wrap with a brassie green wire, wrap some herl, pick a perfect leg feather, tie it in and finish with a perfect collar. I sat their and admired the great Job I did for a minute or so before getting the head cement out. I don't know if I blacked out for a split second or had a giant spasm but I ended up smearing head cement all over my perfect legs made worse by a not so though out attempt at cleaning it up. I ended with one heck of a mess in my vise. Frustrated as hell I went and helped a friend split wood instead. So much for my plan.
Bryon Anderson 0 Report post Posted December 17, 2017 It happens. I'd say your response was spot-on. Some days it's just not in the cards.
Moshup 0 Report post Posted December 18, 2017 Lol. I had days sitting at the vise when the first fly took forever to finish and looked like crap to boot. On those days I just put the thread down and say "Not today".
rstaight 0 Report post Posted December 18, 2017 Sounds like some of my days. On one of the club tying nights I dumped a new bottle of head cement in my lap. Some days you get it, some days you get got.
