The Warm Water Vice

Recommended Posts

I figure theres a thread for the trutta and one for the saltwater, so why not warmwater.

As you would know I love my saltwater but when i can't get out on the bay I frequent the local billabongs and creeks of North Queensland.

Many of our targets are different, but many occupy the same niches and feed in similar fashions....

Please. If you care, feel free to post ypur warmwater ties here.

Here i have attached a couple of examples of flies that account for tilapia and tarpon here in my local waters.

No offense to your thread, Li'l Dave ... Almost ALL my fishing is warm water, but I post my flies on "(monthly) flies from the vise".

I've argued this point recently, that there are too many different places that people post their flies. It can be confusing.

We already have people who post their flies and/or their videos to two, three or more different places on this site.

Not at all. Just one opinion of many. Just stated what I do.

Other's are welcome to contribute to this thread, if they want to.

I'll play too. I do enjoy the monthly thread, but I don't see me casting any midges here the warm water. Or anything smaller than a size 10 for that matter. I know a lot of flies are universal for cold and warm water, but minnows are not the target species. 😄.

Nice work boys...

We're off with the club saturday to catch some tarpon, so hopefully I'll get a few action shots of my ties.

These were some of the first patterns I tied a few years ago. Perfect for sight fishing gills on the beds. Makes me almost ready for summer to be here.. almost.

Those hackles look to be a little too long to my eye. Here's a vid to show how to use those long hackles for smaller flies. If you tied them that way intentionally, then disregard this. Otherwise, others may benefit from seeing this.unsure.png rolleyes.gif
