  1. Pretty sure it's emu. They are attached at the bottom correct? I have some in my collection somewhere, but I never found them too useful for any patterns I tie.
  2. Nothing in a couple weeks. check his other thread he posted on flyangler as well. He said he was in a car accident.
  3. I also use a tripod and remote to reduce the blur at longer shutter exposures. Thanks for the info.
  4. Could you not just adjust the aperture to a higher value to create a wider DOF? I usually shoot my flies on a setting of F16.
  5. Stellar pics Dave. I like the second best.
  6. If you must dyed it black, first dye it a dark colour like purple or brown, and over that, dye black. Like TB mentioned, Black is by far the hardest colour to dye. It's cheaper to buy black.
  7. Not bad. You'll be surprised at just how fast you can develope your skillz. Keep those 2 somewhere special and take a look at them in say a year. I kept my first 5, and look back at them once in a while to see where I started from. I'm gonna frame them at some point down the road.
  8. Hey, that's kewl. I would never have thought to put a popper on a tube. Nice looking fly.
  9. Get yourself some 20 and 30lb tyger wire for Canadian Pike. I go fishing for pike quite a bit, and the guys who use heavy mono or flouro always lose their flies to big pike. We fish for pike in the 15-30lb range for the most part, and regularly pull out 42" + fish. Wire is the way to go.

    Digital Camera?

Look at getting the Optio WP10 - Under 400.00 6mp, w/ great macro and best of all, it's waterproof to 5' for 30 minutes. You can take some really cool underwater shots with them. Never woory about it getting wet while fishing. Also, my friend just got a 7mp camera for 500 that is waterproof to 10' for 1 hour. I can't remember the name of it, but it was really cool.
  11. Here is my goto link for east coast trout. http://users.eastlink.ca/~dryfly/oldies.htm
  12. ikea has a great lamp with a solid base for under 20 bucks. I use just one for tying - 100w bulb with a bit of heat. 4 for taking pictures. The ones you have pictured there generate alot of heat, but are great for dark rooms.
  13. Yes, there are hundreds of clubs across the US, Canada and internationally. I maintain a list of Canadian Clubs now here and there are many more across the US. Where are you from.
  14. You can cut out the tip(center) and create a v shape. put the head into the v shape, and then wrap it down. You can better control the length as well. The other thing you may want to try is to tie it in by the tip, and srtip of the fibers on the side that will be touvhing the shank. 2 wraps and tie it off. Similar to http://copperfly.net/greenmeanie.php but with partridge and make it more sparse.

    Furled Leaders

My buddy Greg Scratchley wrote an article on how to make furled leaders as well. http://flyangler.ca/index.php?option=com_c...id=45&Itemid=31 He did a demo out at our club this week, and it looks pretty simple once your set up. It sure makes a noticalbe difference in turning over a fly as compared to a regular tapered leader.
