  1. Hi all, I was looking for a dimmable LED lamp for my computer desk and found a reasonably priced one made by Taotronics (www.tayotronics.com) . I found it to be much more comfortable to use than my fluorescent lamps and immediately ordered a second one from Amazon for my fly tying bench. This lamp is flicker free and has 4 different ranges of light with 4 settings for each range. The ranges are 2,000-3,000k; 3,500-4,500k; 4,500-5,500k and 5,500-6,500k... or in plain English, from easy on the eyes soft white to VERY bright white! My TT_DL01 model lamps have laminated touch-controls (not mechanical) and a convenient USB charger built in. Lifetime is rated at 22 years at 5 hours a day. Hope this is of interest. Hank
  2. I love this pattern - simple and versatile! Been using something similar for years (decades actually :-) ) I tie mine leaving the ostrich herl tips extended past the hook bend as a tail. White, black, and olive are my best colors and all are weighted with copper wire and have bead-chain eyes. Most of my olive ties have a turn of soft hackle just behind the eyes to suggest the legs on a damsel fly nymph. Thanks for posting! Hank
  3. In the late 60's I started fly fishing out of frustration - there were dozens of Mooneye sipping dries and ignoring every lure and bait I threw at them. Nobody could catch one so it became a challenge. Bought a fly rod/reel/line kit and a fly tying kit and have been tying ever since. Like flytyer62, I harvested what materials I could and still have a preference for natural feathers and furs for most of the flies I tie. Hank
  4. Very nice fly pattern! Should do a good impression of a large caddis, a moth or a hopper. I am going to tie up a couple for the weekend - there is a fast-water strech loaded with smallies that this should work very well on. Thanks for sharing!
