Tied here as a Purple Haze; you're only limited by your imagination. hook - Dai Riki 320 #14 thread - Danville 6/0 black tail - hackle fibers brown/grizzly mix rib - UTC wire x-small silver abdomen - tinsel holo purple thorax - Ice Dub/rabbit purple wing - Congo Hair white hackle - brown/grizzly mix (oversize by 1) mash barb, start thread at 2/3 mark, wrap to point above barb and make a little thread bump stack and measure (shank) a mixture of hackle fibers; tie in tight against the bump to set the proper angle, trim butts at 2/3 mark and cover with thread tie in rib tie in tinsel, wrap to tail and back; tie off/trim counterwrap rib; helicopter end/cover with thread tie in a hank of CH; crosswrap, then post it up (brush with a little Sally) prep hackles; post up, shiny side out, cup-side up as you wrap dub thread/dub thorax; finish at base of post wrap brown hackle down post; let it hang and then trap hackle with wraps at base of post repeat with the grizzly, filling any gaps (one at a time gives me better control over the wraps); half hitch x 2 at the base (brush thread with Sally before you cinch it tight) trim wing Regards, Scott Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
