    Great Expo

Got to attend a terrific fly fishing expo in Blaine, MN last weekend. I actually got to meet Dave and Emily Whitlock and Dave was kind enough to autograph a book for me. Lots of really nice folks and some very helpful advice on fishing, tying, gear.............. Wow! If you get a chance to go to one of these, by all means, don't pass it up !
  2. Tell you what, CJ. I have all my fly tying stuff packed up right now because I'm moving to Dassel, Minnesota next Saturday. But I have about --I don't know--at least several hundred-- popper bodies in two boxes packed up. If, early this spring, you want to try to tie poppers on some of these, get hold of me here and I'll send you a couple dozen to try. These are JUST bodies, some not even cut to length, but I've tied dozens of poppers on these and they're outstanding and long lasting for bass and bluegill. Anyway, if you want to try some of this material next spring, I'll have them unpacked by then. No feelings hurt if you're already set up with what you like by then. Have fun tying. Poppers are fun to experiment with--tying and fishing.
  3. Don't forget to ask your pals who hunt to save fur and feathers for you. Some of What they throw away can make good fly tying material.
  4. I second the vote for Skip Morris' book. I have several books on fly tying and I think I like Skip's book the best.
  5. Bluegrass on my OME Columbine.
  6. Don't forget to talk to your pals that hunt,. The fur and feathers they throw away can be used to tie flies.
  7. Hi Folks, My name is Mike and I live in North Dakota (for the next 3 weeks). My wife, Jo and I are moving to Minnesota right after Christmas and I'm dusting off the fly fishing and fly tying equipment. I used to tie flies a lot, but I haven't for a few years so I'm anxious to get back in to it..Besides fly fishing and fly tying, I'm a ham radio operator, play banjo and mandolin, blacksmith a little, like bicycling, outdoor photography and metal detecting. I hope to make some friends here and learn a lot from all of you.
