mikechell 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2015 That's a good looking panfish fly. Looks like fish food, to me.

PWB 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2015 Yeah I did very well with the yellow ones last summer. I tied up some bigger ones for bass and they did great.
FlaFly 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2015 I like those kinds of flies, but have a question: what is the purpose of the flash that sticks up in back... it seems that it would not be in the water for the fish to see.
PWB 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2015 The stealth bomber is actually a diver. When retrieved it dives and wiggles. And they sure catch fish!
Guest rich mc Report post Posted January 25, 2015 stealth bombers are great in larger sizes I have problems with hookset on small gill sized gurglers. they seem to push the fly away with the wake going after it rich mc
ditz2 0 Report post Posted January 26, 2015 That fly looks like it might float on its side rather than hook down. I tied some foam spiders with 2 layers of foam trying to get a higher float and they just floated on their side.
agn54 0 Report post Posted January 26, 2015 ditz, I have tied up a bunch of these and they all sit hook down, and then dip below the surface when stripped sort of like a dahlberg diver. Maybe try a heavier hook to act as a keel? But then I suppose that would negate the higher float you are looking for
dobro 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2018 Old thread, I know - I apologize. But what hook type/size do folks use for bream-sized Stealth Bombers? Thanks! Lee

fshng2 0 Report post Posted July 6, 2018 Yes the original was a #6 Gamakatsu B10S. Current recommendations are for sizes #10 to #3/0. Larger hooks can be used and require more foam. B10's are available in 6 thru 2/0. http://www.flyfishga.com/stealth.htm
