  1. Great pics, I tie the shark caddis, this first picture in your post. If you really spin/twist antron tightly you get that result, segments without a wire rib. If you look closely at the picture you will see that there is a real nymph among the ties. Its one of the simplest realist tie I do. Lanning I also like the shark caddis larva. It´s easy to tie and very succesful Regards Stefan
  2. Hi Marian, Nice to read that you´re still alive. Didn´t you receive my emails some weeks ago ? I´ll visit a supplier in Ostrava (Czech Rep) this week. Than I have to pass the town Knapek is from. Maybe I´ll visit them if it´s possible. Bye Stefan
  3. I also tied a few samples with black brass beads and will try them tomorrow. But to use round split shot lead is also an excellent idea ! Thanks for sharing :-) Bye Stefan
  4. Hi Mike, Nice that you could understand my explanations  Please send me a pm how they worked. I´m really interested in. Bye Stefan
  5. Hi Mike, I´ll try to explain but it´s not so easy with my limited English. Tie the bead on a separate peace of (e.g.) copper wire. Make sure it´s captive, save with glue or laquer if required. Bend the copper wire near the bead 45 degrees and tie it in at the position of the eye. The smaller hole of the bead is closed to the hook ! I hope the attached photo will make it more understandable. Bye Stefan
  6. I found this style in any German forum and thought I should give it a try. Bye Stefan
  7. Hello, I tied my first up-side-down nymph today. What is your experience with this kind of nymphs ? I need to fish them in a small creek where I lose a lot of nymphs because of stones and roots under water. Bye Stefan
  8. Hello Marian, What size of nymphs and wets do we talk about ? I usually tie nymphs on hooks size 10 - 14. A very thin thread (17/0) makes no sense due to the fact that I realize also the head with the thread. 17/0 I use for dries size 14 and smaller. Bye Stefan
  9. Hi, That is my final post to the brush of the olive springs. Please find attached a photo of my interim solution for tying the paraloop. For the moment a use a second vice (a friend´s vice) to do. "Paraloop binden" means "tying of the paraloop" Next step will be to modify my vice. Bye Stefan
  10. Hello Marian, for nymphes and wet´s of this size I usually use Uni thread 6/0. I think 17/0 is too thin to form the head (my opinion) You are from Romania ? Where from ? I´ve been there on business trips to Sibiu, Bucarest, Constanca, Blaj and some places I didn´t catch the names. Do you have good fly fishing areas in RO? Bye Stefan
  11. Hi, I found an other solution, working fine with me. I tie a piece of (thicker, olive) yarn in instead of the loop made of the tying thread and wrap the herl around it. 8-10 times up and 5-8 times down. That makes it more stiff and comfortable. And my results are fine now. Bye Stefan
  12. Hi guys, I gave it another try today and I´m satisfied with the fly now. Will be better after more samples but looks very similar to the original Thanks for your support and find attached a photo of MY best olive springs ever Bye from Bavaria Stefan
  13. Hi Guys, Thx for your advices, I´ll try. I wish you all a merry christmas and a happy new year. Bye Stefan
  14. Hi, Gave it a try tonight but I´m still not satisfied with the result. The brush is really a challenge to me ! Maybe I still use the wrong technic. Advices are still welcome :-) I have to tie and to tie and to tie until the fly is like the original. Keep you informed. Bye Stefan
  15. Thx ! That means the brush is made by wrapping the herl around the thread (like a post) up und down ? It´s what I do tying e.g. a parachute ant ! I will give it a try tonight and post a photo of the result if it was successful. Bye from Germany Stefan
