IgotWood 0 Report post Posted December 27, 2015 Here is a pattern designed by Rich Strolis. It is very heavily weighted to reach the bottom QUICK in deep pool heads....and it does its job well! Due to the purpose of this fly, it actually rides inverted. I think it does a great job at imitating a crayfish. I am tinkering with a tie very similar, but tapered toward the front to look more like a crayfish. Awesome fly! You may want your 8wt for this one Tail: Gami SP-11 (sz2) -Gold Flashabou -Rusty brown marabou (palmered) -(2) Brown grizzly soft hackles -Brown EP anadromous brush -Fiery brown arctic fox (reverse tied) around circumference of the fly Connection: -19 strand beadalon -(2) 4.5mm tungsten beads -(1) orange pro eye bead Head: Partridge Absolute Predator (sz2), and (2) large tungsten cones (Follow the steps listed above until you've tied in the arctic fox) -Gold flashabou -Rusty bronze laser dub (reverse tied). Half-hitch, and jump your thread between the two cones, and reverse tie two more pieces of laser dub.Whip finish -Finish the fly by fitting a sz 7 or 8.5 Fish Mask over the front cone.
