Mike West 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2016 My truck was broken into last night while we set about 50' from it in the backyard, you could see it though the cracks in the fence. Stole my fanny pack tackle bag, Redington Surge with spare spool, Redington Drift with spare spool and approx over a 100 bass & bream flies plus all the other stuff you have in a bag like that. Thank God I took my Tibor out a week ago Man I hate a thief!!!!!

Flat Rock native 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2016 Mike, very sorry to hear this, hope your insurance will help you.. Total bummer... If not covered, back to work.. If covered, and corporate drones try to f... you over, please PM me.. will cover some tactics/strategies that may level the playing field. Chances that cops catch the f...heads that did this are somewhere between slim and none, and Slim left town about same time you called 911. Be sure to make a police report, be as accurate and complete as possible, exagggerate nothing, but do not short change yourself either. Hold insurance adjusters feet to fire, they HATE pushing it up the food chain.. fight them with each and every fact, you can prevail... keep the faith, Carry On... FlatsRoamer 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2016 Promise it wasn't me lol Pretty much, if you catch them, use em for bait, make sure it's a barbed rusty huge sharp smelly treble hook in their head and make them pick up all the trash at your favorite fishing spot with their mouth, and make sure that you put a pile of fireants on them, and to put a little honey in their hair, and of course a drop of zap a gap in each eye
Prybis 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2016 That really sucks. Skin them alive if you catch them.
Poopdeck 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2016 Nothing worse then a thief. While there's little to no chance of the thief getting caught and since nobody is really going to bury a treble hook in somebodies head we might as well all learn from this. The reality of it is the loss is not enough to make me want to report it to my insurance company let alone fight them over it. Not always but Primarily it's kids or heroin addicts breaking into cars. Kids will keep what they steal or sell it to a little buddie. junkies will sell it or trade it as fast as he can because he needs the dope then and there not tomorrow or the next day. He's not posting it on Craigslist and waiting for a response. Can't speak for the entire country but in PA most pawn shops are required thru local ordinances to post online everything they buy as well as the photo ID used to make the transaction. While I know not every pawn shop is on the up and up I also know they are not going to risk their license over something they are gonna make 25 bucks on. Junkies know this. Very little stolen property is ever recovered from pawn shops. More stolen property is bought and sold through mom and pop shops that are not regulated by the banking industry. Even if found in a pawn shop or on Craigslist unless you have a serial number or engraved your name on it there is no way to prove ownership of a commodity openly bought and sold by the thousands on the open market. The best course of action for theft is prevention. We need to all stop leaving our gear in our cars whenever possible. I know it sucks but we are not putting an end to thievery anytime soon and thievery is not stopping itself. Thieves suck and so does being a victim.
vicrider 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2016 Happened to another member not long ago. Happened to me many years ago. Happens all too often. Sorry they got to you. I always made it a habit to park where I could see either my motorcycle and trailer or my truck and trailer and sure enough some guys came up and reached into my boat and started trying hatches to see what was locked or not. I went storming out (and I always carry) and yelled and they went on their way. Had to park way in the back row at a motel once with trailer and heard some voices in middle of night. Opened door and a couple of kids took off like crazy and did get a helmet on the way.
mikechell 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2016 Welcome to the club of the violated, Mike. I believe I'm the one Vic is referring to. Rods and tackle taken from my van. In my situation, I didn't know where or when it happened. I seemed to have forgotten to lock the van at some time and place, so I couldn't report it. If it had happened in my drive, I'd have the cops all over it. I put a sign on the back of my van (in case the thief/thieves see it), "To the person(s) who took the rods from my van ... I curse you with cancer. Agonizing, wasting, slow death by cancer."
rstaight 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2016 I hired a guide several years ago when we were in Long Boat Key. We got to talking about how this sort of thing seemed to be on the rise. He said that he new several guiides that no longer locked their vehicle because the low life would break the glass to get in. At least when they got ripped off they still had their windows. More and more I am considering a concealed carry permit.
Mike West 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2016 Yes I made a police report. Went to the two pawnshops that are close by and nothing. I'm just sick right now. I think my Ross Gunision was in that bag also..not sure my home is 80 miles from me and I won't be going back there for a couple weeks. Yeah I think it was kids cause they left a Garman, tools, rods and a range finder...any crack/meth head would have taking that stuff too..they probably just threw it over a fence once they found out what it was. They also got about a $400 pair of Leupold binoculars My buddy I'm staying with just bought a wireless motion sensor video camera because of this. Goes right to your phone....I'm just sitting and waiting for them to try it again now.

Flat Rock native 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2016 "...More and more I am considering a concealed carry permit..." VooDoo Chell has a safer and possibly, more effective approach. Because... There is almost no place where "deadly force" is proper response to a property crime. Pointing, even an unloaded, weapon at the perp could be interpreted as assault with a deadly weapon.. Without intense training on the jurisdiction's municipal, county, state, etc. laws on legal use of guns, it can make a bad situation, even more terrible... so just Be Careful...
