Thread recommendation

veevus 12/0

super strong

lays flat when you want it to and for less build up

can be split for the split thread dubbing technique

I watched a guy, at a D.Ri.F.T. meeting in Illinois, splitting a fine thread into individual fibers and winding them on spools. I asked him what he was doing. (I don't think I used family friendly language, if you know what I mean)

Turns out, he was getting ready to tie up some 28s and 26s. He wanted finer thread than he could find for sale anywhere.

Not saying you should do this ... just suggesting.

Veevus, Gordon Griffith's 14/0. I've found both to be very strong and great for really small patterns.

I like that Gordon Griffin thread deaddrifter. It's not my only thread but I do enjoy tying with it.

Hook & Hackle sells a 12/0 Euro Thread that is similar to Veevus. I have also gotten some 12/0 from Orvis.

That said, I use Veevus 12/0 for my small flies. I get it from Golden Rule Fly Shop at one of the shows I attend.
