Looks pretty good to me. You might want to wet it and see how the material lies. I tend to stay away from flies that require trimming and prefer self tapering materials for my bait fish patterns. I've ruined more than a few flies by getting to OCD when trimming them, and trying to get them to look just right. I doubt the fish will care if it's not perfectly shaped.

Playing around with compound dubbing loops; some interesting results although I haven’t been able to replicate it consistently.

 

hook – WFC Model 6 #8

thread - UTC 70 grey brown

tail - moose body hair

rib - small wire gold

body - dubbing hare’s ear

hackle/wing - deer hair/grizzly hackle (loop dubbed)

Even though theyre more brownish motor oil color in the parts of western Montana that I fish, my friend in Missoula only wanted olive so thats what he gets.

Here's a couple of poppers I finished up yesterday. Plan to use them for bass, chain pickerel, pike. Might even fish them in salt water.
