Just wondering if anyone has come up with a use for old spools from thread, flosses, tinsels, coper...etc...?
I seem to always have a few around just collecting dust that end up getting thrown out, but there must be something they are good for...right...? dunno.gif

There are all kinds of crafty uses for them. Maybe some cub scout troop or preschool or something would like them.

I like using Kreinik materials, but they come on a long tube, so when I want them to be used in a bobbin, I transfer them. Same as some other yarns and wools that come on a card or simmilar

what ive always thought of is buying kevlar on BIG spools and spooling it on the spools for a lot cheaper than what the fly tying companys charge

I respool mine with 2lb or 4lb mono - makes for a great mono thread - and I've never found anything that spins deer hair better than 4lb mono.

I tie with sparkle chinelle that doesn't come on spools. I simply transfered it to old spools for convenience.
This also ment buying a bobbin with larger tube but worth it.
