Maybe a dumb question - but did you wrap thread all around the bend of the hook for the body or did you use another material to make the abdomen? Looks like a lot of wrapping..... Also looks like one I would want to try to do. A very realistic looking spider - like the legs.... gives it style points...

I remember reading something in Fly Tyer some time ago where they tied something similar. They used a clump of deer hair and folded it to add bulk the body. Might be something to try to not go through a spool of thread on every fly

WOW i love it! im gonna tie a few of those, color one in "black widow" pattern, and delicatley place it somewhere in my parentss bed

This is a Brown Recluse I tied a few months ago.
Abdomen is a coffee bean. This help to save on thread and it makes the spider float flush in the surface film just like the real thing.
Trout in stillwaters love them!!!!!!!!!!!!!
