Frog Diver New Pattern Database Submission

Dear FTF Member,
Support FTF by Subscribing to Hatches Today! 2011 Issue - In Stock
Since 2003 FlyTyingForum.com has grown from a handful of people to 30,000 registered members and has become the largest fly tying community in the world. In 2007 I published the first issue of Hatches because I felt the FTF community could offer a printed magazine that far exceeds anything the fly tying world has ever seen published. To this day, Hatches is largely made up of articles submitted to me by FTF member and FTF will continue to play a large role in the future of Hatches. Hatches truly is a grassroots effort, unlike many of the other publications in circulation that have the backing of large media corporations. The future of both Hatches and FTF depends on the support of FTF members like you. For $7 a year, you not only help ensure that I have the resources needed to be able to offer you all of the features you enjoy today free of charge, you also get 96 pages of pure fly tying awesomeness that is worth the price by itself. Click Here for Subscription Info Thank You -Will

2nd attempt at stacking deer hair. Stopped the hair a little short, creating a longer thread head than I wanted, oh well it will fish. The hair stacking is definitely better than the first, the fly feels much more firm but I still got to work on shaping the flies with the razor... Not completely happy, I could have done a lot better on the collar.

looking good I have been tying bass bugs for a few yrs and shaping them is a little tuff a good pair of curved sissors is a God sent and flex. razor blades help .with your collar was you trying to get one like on a dalburgh when i cut my collars in I take the top of my hair stacker and shove the whole fly (before you cut any hair off) like your trying to hide it into it to where I would like my collar to end(the rear of the collar)then just go around and cut down with a razor to the color you want to see on the rear of the collar I'll try to get a pic up stacking hair is tuff work the smaller the fly the harder it is but like I said earlier it looks good and will catch fish warm water fish are attracted to rubber legs like moths to the light. tight lines
To many times the success of a trip is based on the catch and not in the adventure itself BIG_FISH

The different colored deer hair that you used id really nice. Like you sais there is one or two screw ups, but it will certainly catch fish very effectiantly.

Deer Hair is fun to work with and it certainly looks like your on your way! For a second attempt, fantastic. Its like anything else, 2 flies can't sweat the little things, If your not happy with it set it aside then after tying a handful then compare, you will see a big difference. Be careful how high in the body you place your rubber legs, they should be tied just above hook shank and when you thread them through your body you should feel the top of hook shank at that time. Great work

You're right I did thread them a little high, actually had to slap some glue in there. However, they are lower then they look, the fly is tilted, the bottom is actually completely flat, but ii looks round here. Thank you so much for the kind words, coming from you it means a lot!!!!
