ibian, black squirrel tail is a decent sub for black bear, i've used it alot lately and it seems to work out just fine.

Hi Ibian, the hook is a Partridge CS10/1 #8 Bartleet Traditional Salmon. I like this fly in a #8 because it does have that buggy look to it so I try to retain that in size as well. Squirrel would be a good substitute (probably the most similar but lacks some of the luster)...depending on how you want it to fish you could definately use bucktail, calf tail or fox as well.
