Early October Erie Steelhead Trip anyone interested

Dear FTF Member,
Support FTF by Subscribing to Hatches Today! 2011 Issue - In Stock
Since 2003 FlyTyingForum.com has grown from a handful of people to 30,000 registered members and has become the largest fly tying community in the world. In 2007 I published the first issue of Hatches because I felt the FTF community could offer a printed magazine that far exceeds anything the fly tying world has ever seen published. To this day, Hatches is largely made up of articles submitted to me by FTF member and FTF will continue to play a large role in the future of Hatches. Hatches truly is a grassroots effort, unlike many of the other publications in circulation that have the backing of large media corporations. The future of both Hatches and FTF depends on the support of FTF members like you. For $7 a year, you not only help ensure that I have the resources needed to be able to offer you all of the features you enjoy today free of charge, you also get 96 pages of pure fly tying awesomeness that is worth the price by itself. I am hoping on being back on my feet within the next month. Since I have blown the good part of the Smallie season sitting in a wheelchair I am looking forward to the fall Steelhead run. I am looking to go to Erie the first or second weekend of October so if anyone is interested in meeting up let me know. I will probably be there Friday night and will leave sometime Sunday.

Everyone who has fished Erie knows about the unbelieveable crowds during the fall run so I usually try to put my main focus on fishing at night, the fish seem more active and where it is usually elbow to elbow, you will have spots all to yourself.

Of course with it being early October the run is kinda hit or miss but I'm going no matter what, there has to be a few in there. 1 fish and I will be estatic after what I have gone through lately. According to the reports last year a big rain came October 1st and with it came the first decent push of fish.

If we get a few people interested we will rent one of the Thunderbird trailers and we can split the cost, ends up being like $10 per person per night to stay.

There are a few trailers that can hold 6 or 7 people in them. Yea make sure Keith gets an invite, Leaky should be coming with me.

I think Kevin lost forum access so I will send him an email and see if he is interested.

There are plenty of trailers so even if we get a crew we can split the guys up in a couple of trailers.

Will, you should give the Conneaut Creek a try. Both Ohio and PA stock the creek. I suggest checking the report archives on Fisherie.com to see when the fish start running. I usually go up in November when the weather is colder.

Yea man I have been wanting to try Conneaut Creek. It seems hard to find any info on good accesses and I usually don't have a ton of time to just drive around and scout new places, but if not this trip sometime this year!!!

That early in October is a bit early but being 7 weeks in a wheelchair can drive a man insane. I am willing to drive 6 hrs each way just to hook into one. Last year had a decent amount of fish in there at that time so only time will tell if they are they or not. dunno.gif

Well I just got back from seeing the doc and things are not going as quickly as I thought they might.

I did get out of my boot on my left foot and was given an air cast. Now I can get up and walk around using a walker. My left one though is still in the boot and will be at least 3 weeks until I get out of that. After that I get into an air cast so I'm looking at 6 weeks or more until I am out of all of this gear.

It's only been a few days over 6 weeks since the wreck and realizing I am only half way is discouraging, but I guess it's progress.

So I'm probably looking at the end of October before I can get out.
