The End
Dear FTF Member,Support FTF by Subscribing to Hatches Today! 2011 Issue - In Stock Since 2003 FlyTyingForum.com has grown from a handful of people to 30,000 registered members and has become the largest fly tying community in the world. In 2007 I published the first issue of Hatches because I felt the FTF community could offer a printed magazine that far exceeds anything the fly tying world has ever seen published. To this day, Hatches is largely made up of articles submitted to me by FTF member and FTF will continue to play a large role in the future of Hatches. Hatches truly is a grassroots effort, unlike many of the other publications in circulation that have the backing of large media corporations. The future of both Hatches and FTF depends on the support of FTF members like you. For $7 a year, you not only help ensure that I have the resources needed to be able to offer you all of the features you enjoy today free of charge, you also get 96 pages of pure fly tying awesomeness that is worth the price by itself. "The National Weather Service is predicting 6 inches total snowfall by midnight."
Fishing on Monday should be interesting. But, at least its not a hurricane...

Carl don't listen to these guys as they don't know what they are missing from the "other season". If you are as passionate about skiing we are two peas in a pod. Do you post on Epic ski as well? Watched any good WM movies lately?

The last Miller flick I saw was Ride, but I do try and check out the classic Stump movies once in a while. Just to reminisce about the days before sidecut and snowboards (no offense - I snowboard too).
I really did pull the new Technicas I got last season out of the closet, even though it is raining now. I'll also have to work on getting the stink out of my hockey skates as they too came out of hiding. Its still a little ways away, but coming fast!

Epic Ski
Cool group just like here with a great gathering this year in Golden at KH.
I only know sidecut skis and love them. Knuckle draggers are cool as well as long as they don't have that punk attitude. My season is still 3 months off, but the swap is coming up in two weeks. That will give me the chance to dump 8 pairs of skis and get a decent pair for my daughter.
Have you skied Alyeska (sp)? Is the North side as nuts as they say it is?

The north face of Alyeska is awesome, but not epic, except when Xmas chute and New Years chute are open (usually just a couple days out of the year). I've skied just about everywhere, including a ton of backcountry, and I've rarely seen steeper terrain than the top portions of those chutes, and never in an open ski area. Not quite 'you fall you die', but it seems close. Otherwise the rest of the north face is 'merely' a steep open bowl.
I miss the light, fluffy powder of Colorado though. It's just too dense up here for my taste. 6 inches of AK snow feels like 3 feet of Rocky Mountain fluff. It's pretty close to California or Western Canada Snow, but even denser I think. Thats what makes it so that it will easily stick to a 60 to 70 degree slope though!
Jeez. Maybe I should visit Epic Ski...

| So Carl, did you get that 6 inches that was predicted. |
Yes indeed Jim, we got exactly 6". Evidently it was the earliest, most snow that we've ever had. The rain yesterday kicked it back to about 2" standing, but it snowed a bit more last night. I don't think it got any farther north as the front didn't get that far. Weird.
