Since 2003 FlyTyingForum.com has grown from a handful of people to 30,000 registered members and has become the largest fly tying community in the world. In 2007 I published the first issue of Hatches because I felt the FTF community could offer a printed magazine that far exceeds anything the fly tying world has ever seen published. To this day, Hatches is largely made up of articles submitted to me by FTF member and FTF will continue to play a large role in the future of Hatches. Hatches truly is a grassroots effort, unlike many of the other publications in circulation that have the backing of large media corporations. The future of both Hatches and FTF depends on the support of FTF members like you. For $7 a year, you not only help ensure that I have the resources needed to be able to offer you all of the features you enjoy today free of charge, you also get 96 pages of pure fly tying awesomeness that is worth the price by itself. I went to cabelas and checked it out, thanks. What I have is way more items than is offered in any of thier kits, but it gives me an idea for a starting point.

john,

It also depends what type of plate is on the spinner blades, you can get nickel, but you can also get silver palted blades...obviously the silver plated blades are more expensive. Silver is fairly easily recognizable, since it is the "whitest" of all metals. Much brighter than nickel. there are also diehards out there who construct things with gold plated blades (never could bring myself to order any of those...didn't think I could bear to lose even one...). I haven't used mush of this stuff since I moved to Louisiana from Michigan, but somewhere there is a box full of spinner blades of all sizes and types, clevises, bodies, brass and nicel plated beads, etc. amongst all my fishing stuff and I haven't boaught anything for at least 18 years...

Well, before you judge off what you see on ebay, really depends on WHAT you have really. You may have some real Gems there. Are there any names on the blades? Are the beads real glass beads? Faceted? I had what was left of my Pentac supplies, and cried when I turned out my last spinner. Luckily the old dies were bought up and are being reproduced. Haven't bought up any yet. What you get out of Cabelas is pretty cheap compared to some better companies. Sometimes you get what you pay for, especially with flytying materials. Cheap isn't always better, and the stuff I had bought from Cabela's (spinner materials) wasn't to my liking. By chance do you have a picture of what you have?

Yes, and I agree about what you have in materials too. Do you have chrome plated, nickel, or real silver blades? That really drives price up too with the last.

Riddler, are you getting out of lure making completely? I got a site for you to check out if not...

ridderbos3,

I do alot of tackle making, I probably have more spinners than any 10 tackle shops could sell and the parts to make 3 times that many. Can you send me a photo or post one here, that would give me a better idea of what to tell you to start at.

I have a plano sectioned box that has 28 slots and I have it packed with all kinds of parts and I know if I was to sell it I would probably start it at least $20 bucks and I know I'd probably get more than that for it.

I do not make lures, just tie flies. I got this lot of stuff at an auction for 5.00 and once I got looking at it I think it is a lot more than 5.00 worth of stuff. I sent a email to steelheader69 with pics, I can either try toforward that to you or he can.

I sent an email. You have a good lot there. I was going to say start it around $10. But stuff like this doesn't normally sell all that well on ebay (I picked up a ton of nice silver spinner blades for about $8, and would've cost me over $80 to buy from a wholesaler). Depending on bidders, I could see it getting up to about $25-50, but really depends on who's bidding. For me, I could only use a fraction of the stuff.
