Dear FTF Member,
Support FTF by Subscribing to Hatches Today! 2011 Issue - In Stock
Since 2003 FlyTyingForum.com has grown from a handful of people to 30,000 registered members and has become the largest fly tying community in the world. In 2007 I published the first issue of Hatches because I felt the FTF community could offer a printed magazine that far exceeds anything the fly tying world has ever seen published. To this day, Hatches is largely made up of articles submitted to me by FTF member and FTF will continue to play a large role in the future of Hatches. Hatches truly is a grassroots effort, unlike many of the other publications in circulation that have the backing of large media corporations. The future of both Hatches and FTF depends on the support of FTF members like you. For $7 a year, you not only help ensure that I have the resources needed to be able to offer you all of the features you enjoy today free of charge, you also get 96 pages of pure fly tying awesomeness that is worth the price by itself. This rod was inherited 4 years ago from a beautiful man who loved fly fishing and tying more than anything in life. His 60 year collection represents his perfectionism to a tee.
Please read Scott's blog for a glimpse of the back story.

This rod has never seen the water. The cork is excellent and the body of the rod is immaculate. The wraps on this rod are multiple colors, and that is what makes this rod GORGEOUS. The rod has an extra tip. I give the road a 10 out of 10 cosmetically. I don't know what it's worth, can anyone help me? I cast this rod a couple of times as it was my first time casting with a cane rod and I fell in love with it. Does anyone own a Philipson? I can't find much price wise about this rod, especially since it is the only one I have ever seen with the multi color wraps. ANY help would be appreciated!
Thanks guys.

They are a nice rod to fish, but not a real expensive bamboo. If he is a relative or friend, I would keep it and fish it. There is nothing like bamboo. It is a real nice rod and your connection to him should make it a better piece to fish. I have a friend who inherited his father's and that is all he fishes.

This website is pretty typical for higher price. http://home.myfairpoint.net/and96jac/fishn...ecopy/id20.html

Was it re-wrapped? Never saw a multicolor wrap on a Pacesetter before. That may lower price. if you are intent on selling it.
Give a man a fish and you'll feed him for the day; Teach a man to tie flies and he'll pick up all the roadkill.

The rod has been refinished, and the guides replaced with much more modern guides. The ferrules don't look like they are origional either. The guide just above the signature area is acting as a hookkeeper, and should not be located where it is. There appears to be some evidence of a repaired or shortened area near the ferrule in the picture, I can't really tell. Stand all the sections up together, they should all be the same lenght. And the rod when assembled should be the full 8' 6". The clean condition of the cork could have been done by cleaning or sanding.
