Dear FTF Member,
Support FTF by Subscribing to Hatches Today! 2011 Issue - In Stock
Since 2003 FlyTyingForum.com has grown from a handful of people to 30,000 registered members and has become the largest fly tying community in the world. In 2007 I published the first issue of Hatches because I felt the FTF community could offer a printed magazine that far exceeds anything the fly tying world has ever seen published. To this day, Hatches is largely made up of articles submitted to me by FTF member and FTF will continue to play a large role in the future of Hatches. Hatches truly is a grassroots effort, unlike many of the other publications in circulation that have the backing of large media corporations. The future of both Hatches and FTF depends on the support of FTF members like you. For $7 a year, you not only help ensure that I have the resources needed to be able to offer you all of the features you enjoy today free of charge, you also get 96 pages of pure fly tying awesomeness that is worth the price by itself. Click Here for Subscription Info Thank You -Will

Flyfisher 13 has someone to show her the ropes and tend the net for the big ones. He helps me with the camera work when the fish aren't biting.

I have also acquired a new set of hands that likes to help out in the garage....She does a fine job of holding down chairs....But her older brother is starting to get the hang of the long rod.

diggin' it... if Mijo can cast through that tangled mess of stuff off the road, no fish is safe. I'm thankful there are still parents out there who pay attention to their kids!

Be safe.
If I was an "expert" people would be paying me to do this stuff. I just like to do what works.

Old road bed submerged under recent lake. Great gill and bass action. Keeper bass is 20". Chance to hang into a hawg every time we go...and we usually get several good 18 and 19 " fishies....nice lake to flip hair bugs.

I bought my 12 year old son his first fly rod at Bass Pro while on vacation and we took a day trip up north the next week to fish a little creek close to a friends house. After working our way upstream about half a mile we started fishing back toward the truck and hit a pretty fast little section with about four and a half foot of water I'm upstream of my son when the current caught him and started sweeping him thru the hole I'm watching him kinda bouncing on one foot just to keep his head above water while false casting the whole time, that was the moment that I realized that I had created a "monster". He's sixteen now and perfectly content playing video games all day & night if you will let him but if you mention fishing he's up before the rooster crows with the truck hooked up to the boat waiting on me!!! And that is what it's all about. I'll bet the fish get nervous when you're son walks down the road!!

Those fish do seem to get a little nervous, indeed, Chris, but it may be because they know if he's there, his Ol' Man aint't far behind! wink.gif

I know what you mean about the boys....Can't get Mini Hub up for anything before 10 am in the summer, but come hunting season or a trip to the water, and he''s standing at my bed at 3 in the morning waiting for me to get up. Kinda eerie to wake up and see your 13 year old kid standing at the foot of your bed , in his waders, saying "Dad? Dad? you up yet?"

Mr. Hubbard...do you need an Arkie to come up and show the kid how to cast? Might
be best to let me or Jamie teach him. Make sure he understands that the fly is supposed
to land on the water and not up in a tree or in someone's ear. hysterical.gif

oh please, Mr Norwood...you wish you could plant a popper in the water between those limbs! LOL! Took him out for a little smallie action this past week...hit the water about sun-up fishing a black gurler...killed the fish! Had two nice fish...one almost 18 and the other a solid 15.....was a great day! His casting needs a lot of work, but he can work a fly and play a fish better than most men I fish with.
