My daughter's first catch

Dear FTF Member,
Support FTF by Subscribing to Hatches Today! 2011 Issue - In Stock
Since 2003 FlyTyingForum.com has grown from a handful of people to 30,000 registered members and has become the largest fly tying community in the world. In 2007 I published the first issue of Hatches because I felt the FTF community could offer a printed magazine that far exceeds anything the fly tying world has ever seen published. To this day, Hatches is largely made up of articles submitted to me by FTF member and FTF will continue to play a large role in the future of Hatches. Hatches truly is a grassroots effort, unlike many of the other publications in circulation that have the backing of large media corporations. The future of both Hatches and FTF depends on the support of FTF members like you. For $7 a year, you not only help ensure that I have the resources needed to be able to offer you all of the features you enjoy today free of charge, you also get 96 pages of pure fly tying awesomeness that is worth the price by itself. Click Here for Subscription Info Thank You -Will

I havent had much time to tie let alone fish due to work and some serious health issues. The other night I ventured with the family to a local park an allowed my daughter to try her hand at casing and hopefully catching some gills on the fly rod. This was only her second attempt at fly fishing. It was good to see her catch something and she really enjoyed it. I managed to catch 15 or so gills before I called it after an hour. Hope you like the photos.

Jeff, you've got a darling little girl there, and she looks so proud of her "catch". You must frame that photo, it is a keeper!

The smile says it all, bro! Love it! Now hook her up with some smallies and stocker trout!
Hug your daughters, or someone else will.

I'm jealous of that park! I'm always looking for new places to fish that have the playground close by. I only have a few and neither ponds are that great. With 5 kids it's easier to go fishing if the wife and kids can go and be that close to the park.

way to go Jeff soon you wont have to worry about putting fish in the frying pan with her around once they catch the first one its a constant battle to get bigger better fish and for a young girl it seems its a stronger drive then it is on others I actually have to lock our rods in there own rooms to keep my daughter from taking off everyday to fish
release a big one today and catch a trophy tomorrow

Thanks guys.

Oatka-yeah thats why I take them there. My wife takes the three year old to play and the daughter hangs out with me. Everyone wins. It has large mouth and sunfish in it. Nothing awesome or great but enough to keep me satisfied.

Well, Jeff, it's often not the location, nor the fish, but the ones we share the experience with that grows a cherished memory....
