Attached File  1.JPG   1.81MB   170 downloadsI found this little guy on my porch swing. It is about a 1/4" long. It has 6 legs it's black and has orange markings on top, also the whole top is spickey looking. I have been online and in a couple bug books no luck yet. Maybe somebody out there knows. I do think bluegills would eat it up. Thanks for looking

It looks like a Larva of a multicoloured Asian Lady beetle, they are considered a benificial species. Good for your plants and garden.

I seem to remember reading in an old pre 1970 book that ladybirds as we call them in UK are sour tasting to fish and not eaten. Not sure if thats the case. Anyone seen fish taking them? I've certainly seen the water with them on blown in from farmland but never seen a rise.

"What on Earth are you doing for Heavens sake?"

"Out of every 100 men, 10 shouldn’t even be there, 80 are just targets, nine are the real fighters, and we are lucky to have them, for they make the battle. Ah, but the one, one is a warrior and he will bring the others back.” — Heraclitus, 5 B.C

The above are correct with the lady bug larvae, definitely a beneficial bug there "do not squish".
