Posted Image
Not sure exactly how it should be tied but here's my way...
Hook: your choice long shank
Thread: black Flymaster 6/0
Tail: Squirrel (sparse)
butt: Peacock 3 herls
Body: Red Floss
Collar: Peacock 3 herls
Wing: Squirrel Tail (sparse)
Head: black Flymaster 6/0
Coating : Gorilla Super Glue

Got a bit bored so made a glue / cement applicator that I wont lose or roll of the table...

Ordered some hooks the other day. Looking through the list of hook patterns available there were some 6x Long Shank hooks. Haven't really had a go at tying this kind of streamer before so added a pack to the order. This is the first one on one of those hooks. I’m fairly happy with it, no idea if it will work as there isn't any of that kind of fishing around here (landlocked salmon). Just kept seeing pictures of various examples so thought I'd have a go at tying one.

Good fly. Should tempt some big trout or salmon on parts of loch shin or brora or similar big holding waters.

Soft hackle on a White River (Bass Pro) WR-069 hook. Like these hooks in 12 & 14 for soft hackles.
A bit different look than the normal straight shank hooks.

I'm starting to try my hand at soft hackles, and here are few first attempts, which all include coon in either the body or thorax. Enjoy!

Thanks Piker20 and Chase Creek, that means quite a bit coming from you guys! The fly on the right is the only one with a quill body, the others use coon hair herl-style.
