I've never seen that kind of hook.  I looked up "hole head" and "weighted head" and neither shows that hook.

 

What is it?  How do you tie it on?

Wow ... the difference between "Hole Head" and "Holey Head" ... thanks for the links, Flytire.  Lot of work, making those.  Second question was, do you then just tie right through the hole?  Looks like a bad connection point.

I am guessing this is a specialty/antique fly ... and the beadheads will work better.

I agree with the bad connection point, Mike. A mono loop knot would seem to be mandatory.
