I was given the "green light" from steeldrifter to post the following info on Feather Emporium.

Because my last order to FE was not delivered in a timely manner, I did some checking and found the following disturbing info:

http://tinyurl.com/yb6jx9h9  This is a link to the BBB of Madison, WI

http://tinyurl.com/yaldhg2o   This is from the "Complaints Board"

http://tinyurl.com/yae2uz6n   This is another link from the BBB of Madison, WI (has two pages of complaints)

http://tinyurl.com/yb6svhuc    This is a link from the "review center"

http://tinyurl.com/ybkebnyn    This is a link to "sitejabber"

http://tinyurl.com/ya638owk  This is a link from a fly fishing forum

Please note that the BBB of  Madison, WI notes that "This Business is NOT BBB Accredited" and has an  "F" in the top right of the webpage.  There were many more links on this on the page I Binged for, but hopefully what I have provided will give someone pause before then decide to purchase from this vendor.  I have no personal grudge against this vendor, but I sincerely believe that anyone who is contemplating a purchase from FE should look before they leap.

Someone on this forum told me earlier that I should "be careful when ordering from this vendor".  I did not heed that astute advice and so here we are.

One thing that I really sets me off is that his website is still up and running and more than willing to take your order AND your money.  I am certain that I have lost my money as others have as well.

If this warning post will prevent someone else from losing their money to this vendor then, mission accomplished.

Patriot, do not get me wrong. I am not trying to defend anyone here. Never bought anything from FE or know the guy at all. And I do feel for you and your situation.

But the links posted above do not amount to much in my opinion. Yes, there is a lot of negativity, but it is over a very low number of comments that are repeated accross different pages.

I would not buy from FE at this point because of the low number of opinions, not because of the negativity.

</snip>

I don't understand.  Three days ago you posted:

I have ordered from FE in the past and he did deliver what I ordered and it came quickly...

From that same post:

I just placed an order with FE today.

24hrs later, you post:

And, BTW, my FE order has not shipped.  I'm thinking the worst, but hoping for the best.

Is this recent order, the one from a couple days ago, the order that has not been delivered in a timely manner?

Thanks for your comments.

I agree that internet user's can spew whatever they wish, most of which should be taken with a grain of salt.  What I took a bit more seriously was the Madison, WI BBB rating of FE.  Historically, how they rate businesses can be assumed to be based on actual complaints by those who have done business with the vendor in question.  At least that is my understanding of BBB business practices.

As I mentioned earlier, I was warned in a PM to be careful when doing business with FE.  I had already placed an order with FE and that original order arrived very quickly.  Since that time I have placed two other orders neither of which have been delivered.  My last order was placed on 7NOV17 which was also the day I discovered the "Feather Emporium ???" thread that is now locked.  I was not aware of any of the issues others had experienced with FE until that time.

To reiterate, steeldrifter did not give me permission to begin a personal rant about FE.  This thread was started for only one reason: to warn others about FE's past before they placed their order.

If I was not clear about that then that is my fault and I take full responsibility for my poor wording.

Thanks!

Thank you for your post.

No.  My apologies for the confusion.  I have placed three orders with FE. The one you referred to was my last order which was placed on the day that I first read the now locked "Feather Emporium ???" thread.  My first FE order was delivered very quickly, but my last two orders have been paid for but not delivered as of this date.

As I noted above, I did not begin this thread to disparage FE, but did so only to warn others who were not aware of FE's past practices.   Personally, was not aware of any of this until very recently.  Had I been aware of this I probably would not have placed any orders with FE.  However, I'm still hoping for the best.

Again, I apologize for my poor wording in my opening post.

Thanks again.

Patriot,
In no way did I think you were ranting.
My comments come from my skeptical nature.
Still, consider me warned. Opinions from established members of the forum are a good cut above those of complete internet randos.

Thanks, I hear all that you have noted.

I'm packing for another trip to the San Juan River in Northern New Mexico.  Wanna join me?  I leaving at 0600H tomorrow. You're always welcome.smile.png

Off topic:  Here's a peek at my unfinished webpage of my last trip to the San Juan River if interested.  I work on it as I have time.  At the moment, it lacks content and polish, so keep that in mind if you have time to peruse it.

Thanks again for your post.

Nice pics from your page. Small flies and spider webbed leaders are not for me I'm afraid. The red on that old Red quill is startling. It immediately reminded me of a girl I met in a club in NYC back in the 80's. Her name was Cinseia Barretta from Brooklyn and of Italian descent. She had Raven black hair and was wearing an oh so short dress in that same exact color. Needless to say I rose and was immediately landed by Miss Baretta.

LOL!  Great story!  Landed without a net no doubt? smile.png

My wife is of Italian descent and has red hair.  She is very fond of red and thought the "old Red Quill" was cute.  Girls!

I like your web page. You don't see many folks dedicate a web page to a trip. The flies look great.
