I saw this on Youtube and I thought it was pretty cool.
It reminds me of some of petegreys ties.

Neat, small head.  No thread wraps to twist the materials.  So that's what "welding" a fly means.

 

Might have to try that.

Might have to try that.

If you already have UV setup, give it a run. It is quite fun and slowly addictive. Pete Gray has been coaching some. You may want to check out some of Pete's threads on Noreast.com and Global Fly Fisher i.e. "shameless Phly Welding. More examples to inspire.

And, indeed the video shows a very nice weld....
