Is this to be considered an entertainment video of guys catching big fish one after the other and letting them go or is it a training video for someone like me who has a spey outfit he'd like to learn how to use?

It's not a "how to" by any means, but also not a "fish porn" vid either. It's somewhat of a history of Steelhead and the Great Lakes mixed in with couple minutes here and there of different fishing scenes of guys catching steelhead all around the Great Lakes in Mi.Oh.Ny.

Not for me then Steve. If it was a story built around the Great Lakes in WI and MN I'd have gone for it but really need something instructional. I have the outfit but haven't even gotten the line wet yet.

What you want then Nick are some of Ed Ward's spey dvd's. His are 100% instructional and sounds like what you are after. I have his "Skagit Master" dvd and that is how I got started, but you'll have to pry that dvd out of my cold dead hands lol

I was  hoping it wouldn't come to that but if it's the only way I can get the video... Did you ever actually do any spey casting. From what I've seen the Ausable has enough water to let 'er rip without throwing it in trees on the other side. No rivers here use it on but I will get it to the lake and try some of the still water casting techniques for spey.

Last year I used the spey probably 90% of the season on the Au Sable. I'm throwing a rio 23' 400grain skagit head on a 12ft 5/6 spey rod for trout.

Hey!  Not until after I've ordered and received my next rod.

<whispering to vicrider ... when he's concentrating on his rod tying, he's turned away from his DVD collection.  You can 'neak in there and ... just ... borrow ... it !!!>

I don't mind under this one wink.png , it's not something I "want" to sell bad. Just usually toss the dvds out there for sale after I have watched them. Unless it's one I REALLY enjoy and watch many many more times.
