About Me
my name is brian.. i've been married to a beautiful woman who has graced me with 3 sons, ages 22, 13 and 9.
i've lived in oregon most all my life and have enjoyed it tremendously. as a kid i grew up fishin on the all the umpqua river systems along with the coquille systems and most puddles of water in between..i was a big game outfitter for 14yrs and just recently sold my operation to spend more time pursuing my own interests instead of dollar bills..
i started tying in jr high when my english teacher showed me the basics.. i tied alot more than i fished with the flys, i guess always being a bait slinger my confidence was not there.. last summer a dear friend of mine started me back into the fly fishing scene with few trips for summer steelhead. its been on my mind every since so i've got the tying and fly fishing bug again after a long absence..
fly fishing has actually been a tradition on my wifes side of the family. her great grandmother was the originator of the skunk pattern. you can read about it in frank amato's book titled "the creel" north umpqua edition, just look for don krogels name to pop up about mid book.
anyways i hope i can find success as a fly fisherman and gain more knowledge to pass on to my boys.
regards,
brian
