Good Day,
Indeed! A wonderful crayfish.
Question - do you use rattles in your crayfish? I do. My catch rate has increased since the addition of a rattle to the fly. I think it helps fish hone in better from afar or in cloudy water. Lets them hear them better. After all - crayfish do click their claws...

Sweet craw!!!! I use rattles they work great on bass and eyes but I also find they spook carp.

That looks VERY good! That's one of the most "living" craws I've seen.

I do indeed, but sometimes I have found them not to work as well in clear water. I agree that murky water is the only way to search out fish.
With saying that... I have found rattles work extremely well with shad patterns. We have shad kills every year on our tailwaters. Davy Wotton came up with a shad pattern that happens to be one of my favorites. But to be honest with you I've caught snook the best with this pattern. I fish it in the everglades and it is "the meal ticket". If you’re ever down that way make sure you tie some up.

I'll post some how to steps. It won't include the fly rattle, but the way I do is epoxy it under the shank of the hook.
I got them up. Check it out

Thanx, I teach a fly tying class in my home town. I love this sport and want to share it to the world. I’ll keep adding stuff as I get used to this forum. I never did much until now.

I appreciate that, for the pinchers I use barred pine squirrel. You can’t buy it on the market, but I’m sure it will be out in the future. Wapsi is figuring out how to get it going. They gave me a few samples to try out and this is what I came up with. I wanted the legs to blend with the barring of the hen saddle.

I have three colors I tie it in.

Thanx, I used to live in Michigan. I'm very sad I had to leave. I sure miss the steelhead runs. Those hex hatches at midnight were awesome to fish!!!

flytiehunt,
I am really glad you have begun posting here, and I love the details you post with your tied flies; I wish everyone was so thorough. Its really wonderful to see a great fly and then have step by step instructions on the tying of it, which certainly makes it much simpler and more fun for the person learning to do the same.
Thanks again and welcome. Please keep them coming. Also, there is a site, a specific board, here where all of these great flies and recipes are kept. Please check with Will and make sure all of your's are there so they can be easily found again.

While searching for cray/craw patterns, I found this old thread again and didn't realize I hadn't bookmarked it yet. Figured i might bring it back again for the warmwater guys since the Spring Thaw is upon us.
