Current Tags for This Pattern / Black / CDC / Midge / white / The Cdc Midge![]() tied by Rune Andre Stokkebekk Fly Type: Terrestrials & Midges, Target Species: Trout, Recommended Region: Other, Material List: Hook: Tmc 102Y size 15 to 21. Thread: Lagartun 74D - Black. Body: Superfine dub, black. Wing: Aero Dry Wing, White. Hackle: Dark Grey CDC. I also use barbless hooks like tmc 103bl and 902bl. Another great hook is the 112y. Very nice, wide gap and light, but strong wire. Tying Instructions: 1: Dub a sparse body. 2: Fasten the wing and cut of excess. 3: Make a dubbingloop with the thread and spin cdc. 4: Wrap the cdc loop over thorax. For every turn use your free hand to coax the fibres backwards and upwards. There should be no fibres on the underside. If you have plenty of fibers cut away on the underside. I think it is nice to have diffrent lengths of cdc fibers. It breaks up the fly and make it look more "sparse". It also fish better than a fly where all the hackle is trimmed to one length. Mind this when you decide how to insert the cdc into the loop. Look at the thread as a hackle stem, have some short on one side and longer on the other.. I also tie this fly with biot from turkey or goose in the body. Grey, Olive, Black and brown is important colors. The cdclegs are dark grey or nat. dk brown. Presentation Tips: A midgepattern that floats very nice when it is fresh. During fishing it is important to have a few of this. After a fish, wash off and let it dry for some time. Don't waste time on drying it by the river, take a new fly after fish and catch more. This fly fishes best when it is dry and the fibers are not soaked. The gentle way this fly sits on the water often fool the most picky fish. The fly floats well with: Dry Shake, Dry Dip Super and Dry Shield (all TMC). I have tied and used this since the late 90-ties and it have been my favourite dry midge since. | Other Flies Tied by Rune Andre Stokkebekk
