Dorey Moth

tied by horseshoe
Fly Type: General Freshwater,
Target Species: Trout,
Recommended Region: Eastern Canada,
Material List:
size 14 2x dry bronze Royd Hook
6/0 uni Tan Thread
Habu flat cotton (kaki green)
KMS wool touch dubbing
Habu Curricula Cocoon (silk)
Tying Instructions: Tie on flat cotton and wrap touching sides up 2/3 of hook shaft, cut off flat cotton and tie down end evenly.

Put glue or soft wax on hook or thread and touch
dub. Secure with a few wraps of thread if touch dubbing onto body instead of onto thread..

Position and tie on wings just in front of dubbing, leaving room behind eye for head. Try and pull some threads from wings forward before tying down so as to represent antennae.

Wrap thread to form head and tie off thread.

Presentation Tips: Will float at beginning, unless treated to always float, so a drift is easy. Quick flitting on surface to represent still flying above water surface and drift represents when wings touch surface and moth is stuck to surface.
