Crow Creek Dun

tied by boynabubble
Fly Type: Dry,
Target Species: Trout,
Recommended Region: Central US,
Imitation: Mayflies,
Material List:
Hook: #14-#18 standard dry fly
Thread: UTC 70 color to match mayfly
Tail: Z-lon color of choice
Abdomen: turkey biot
Wing post: polypro yarn
Hackle
Thorax: super fine dubbing

Tying Instructions: Tie as you would other thorax flies. After tying in the biot, apply some cement to the hook shank before wrapping. When finished, cut a notch out of the hackle fibers on the bottom of the thorax to imitate a 'footprint' and allow the fly to ride lower in the water.

Presentation Tips: Can be tied in sizes and colors to match most mayfly hatches. I tie to match Baetis, PMDs, Tricos and Mahoganies. Works very well on slow spring creeks and floats well in faster water too.
