Tying Instructions: Materials are applied in order listed. It's better to tie these patterns a bit on the sparse side so that the natural transluscence of the baitfish they represent is suggested. A heavily dressed pattern will be opaque and unnatural in the water.

Overall fly length is about 7 inches.
Presentation Tips: This is a deep version of the traditional flatwing style. While the traditional flatwing is used in the upper part of the water column, this deep version can imitate sand eels trying to burrow into the sand and hide from stripers and bluefish. The fly is best fished in a rip with a QD line and dead drifted during the swing. The long hackles will undulate in the slightest current. At the end of the swing, short erratic strips can bring some violent strikes.
