Sanders' Petite Claret

tied by Soft-hackle
Fly Type: Wet,
Material List:
Sanders' Petite Claret

Hook: Mustad 3135 # 14

Thread: 8/0 Red Uni Thread

Hackle: Silver Speckled Coq de leon hen

Abdomen: Claret Pearsall's Gossamer, doubled and wrapped, no tying thread beneath.

Thorax: Maroon wool, dubbed to tying thread

Tying Instructions: Cast on, and prepare hackle by stripping off unwanted fibers. Tie to shank front facing you, out over the hook eye. Wrap thread in touching turns to where thorax begins while tying down the Gossamer. Form the abdomen by wrapping down and back in touching turns. Tie off and trim. Using wetted fingers, twist the wool dubbing to the tying thread and wrap the thorax. Wrap hackle-two turns-tie off and trim. While holding the hackle fibers back with the non tying hand's thumb and forefinger, slightly overwrap the hackle fibers to hold. Whip finish.
